Here is one of mine.
My Granny was one of the most important people in my life. She was the quintessential grandmother. She cooked, snuggled, tickled, and loved me to death. She passed away when I was a senior in high school and I still miss her. I truly believe she is my guardian angel. She used to make homemade applesauce that was unlike any other. I don't have her exact recipe so I looked one up and made it with her in mind.
Did I mention how classically beautiful my Granny was? Ok, enough. I'll move on to the recipe.
|Young Granny and Grandpoppy. I never knew my Grandpoppy, he died when I was 2 yrs old. I think my Mom looks just like my Granny in this picture!|
|Granny and Grandpoppy in the early 70's. Her hair was ALWAYS perfect. She had it "done" every week! Every time I see a picture of Betty White, I think my Granny resembles her. What do you think?|

Crockpot Cinnamon Applesauce
adapted from SkinnyTaste.com
8 apples of mixed variety, peeled, cored and cut into cubes
1 tsp lemon juice
1 strip of lemon peel (use a vegetable peeler)
5 tsp agave nectar (or brown sugar)
1 cinnamon stick
Combine all ingredients and cook on low for 6 hours. Remove cinnamon stick and lemon peel. Mash with a potato masher or fork until desired consistency. I did neither because I like mine a little chunky! Serve with love, just like Granny did.
